Wirral

Wirral GP Out of Hours service provides emergency medical care to patients who are unable to wait for their GP practice to re-open. 


If you need medical care outside your normal GP opening hours, you can call the GP Out of Hours Service. You will receive a definitive clinical telephone assessment from a nurse or doctor before further care is agreed. Further care can include:


Additional telephone advice:

Visiting one of three centres in Upton, Eastham or Wallasey

A home visit where clinically deemed necessary. 

If your condition warrants it, you will be referred to the Primary Care Assessment Unit. If however you would like information on a range of NHS services provided in Wirral please "choose well" and download the poster below.

East Cheshire


Patients should contact the GP Out-of-Hours Service based at Macclesfield and Leighton hospitals via NHS 111.


East Cheshire NHS Trust's GP Out-of-Hours (OOH) team provides a safe and high-quality out-of-hours GP service.

It has two teams - the South and Vale Royal service, which is based at Leighton Hospital, and the East service, which is based at Macclesfield District General Hospital. Additionally, appointments are available at Handforth Community Centre, Congleton War Memorial Hospital Minor Injuries and Knutsford Community Hospital at weekends and bank holidays at specified times only.


The GP Out-of-Hours Service provides assessment, advice and treatment as required for urgent healthcare problems that cannot safely wait until the next time GP surgeries are open.

Patients will be asked basic information by a call handler. Patients will be then called back based on urgency of need and any necessary advice, appointments will be provided in addition to arranging GP advice and home visits.
