NHS West Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group is responsible for commissioning or “buying” health and care services for the people of West Cheshire, using a c£340m budget to ensure high-quality, sustainable healthcare for our population of 261,000 people.

Clinicians are very much in the driving seat in NHS West Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group. Each of our 35 member practices elects one of their doctors to sit on our Membership Council which helps to determine what our priorities should be.

The work of NHS West Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group is overseen by our Governing Body, which is chaired by a local GP. You can read more about our Governing Body members. You can also access our Governing Body meeting papers.

There are three GP locality groups in west Cheshire. These are Chester City, Ellesmere Port & Neston, and Rural. These groups provide a vital connection to our GP practices and, in turn, provide invaluable input to the Membership Council and Governing Body.

Our Clinical Senate has members that include senior doctors from local hospitals, nurses, allied health professionals, adult and children’s social care and public health. The Senate reports to the Governing Body and has a significant influence on the work carried out by the Clinical Commissioning Group.

The work of all of these groups is supported by a team of managers who work in partnership with our clinical leads.
